Mdeon receives a lot of questions about the possibility of direct sponsorship of healthcare professionals for their participation in scientific events. It seems that many companies mistakenly hear that direct sponsorship would no longer be legally allowed as from 2018. Nothing is less true.
It is correct that some companies (more specifically the members of MedTech Europe) have decided, on an ethical basis, to sponsor no longer directly but indirectly. However, this does not change the fact that Belgian legislation (in particular Article 10 of the Law on Medicinal Products) remains unchanged. This means that the direct sponsorship of healthcare professionals for their participation in scientific events is (and remains) legally allowed.
